Peter K. Kang

Principal Investigator

I am a geoscientist whose research focuses on the physics of flow and reactive transport in porous and fractured media. I am the PI of Kang Research Group, and we combine theory, high-performance numerical simulation, machine learning, and visual laboratory experiments to understand how the coupling between multiple processes such as biogeochemical, thermal, and mechanical processes controls fluid flow and reactive transport in subsurface systems across spatial scales (from pore to field scale).

One of my favorite quotes is “Thinking is the hardest thing a man can do, probably the reason so few of them do it.” by Henry Ford. I frequently remind myself of this quote so that I can constantly challenge myself and become a better person and more creative scientist each day.
