Xiaoru Liu

Ph.D. Student

I am a PhD student in the Department of Earth & Environmental Science at the University of Minnesota. I obtained my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa. My M.S. research focuses on the inhibition of mineral precipitation in porous media and characterization of shale wettability. Currently, I study mineral dissolution and precipitation in porous media using core-scale experiments combined with XRCT for in-situ carbon mineralization. I also conduct microfluidic experiments to investigate mineral precipitation at the microscale.

I come from Xinjiang, China. I enjoy working out and spending time with my cat during my free time. I also like discovering good restaurants and trying new foods.
