David Kim

Postdoctoral Associate

I am a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023. My Ph.D. dissertation was on the effects of surfactants on carbonate mineral reactivity under different physicochemical environments. Currently, I am combining micro-, milli-fluidic experiments with numeral simulations to improve our fundamental understanding of biological processes, coupled fluid flow, and dissolution/precipitation in the porous and fractured media.  Especially, I am especially interested in how flow channel geometry impacts Mineral dissolution and precipitation and how microbes behave in porous media.

I was born in Lubbock Texas and raised in South Korea. Beyond the lab, I enjoy racket sports, and for the past few years, I have played tennis
